  • The Maryland Assessment Group (MAG) is a nonprofit educational organization that has been bringing Maryland educators, MSDE, and institutions of higher learning together for almost 40 years. Our mission is: - To improve the knowledge base and practices of educational assessment within the state of Maryland; - To promote the best practices of school improvement as it relates to research, evaluation, and assessment; - To promote and endorse the design of reliable and valid instruments to be used by Maryland educators as they strive to improve learning for all Maryland public school students; - To support and promote staff learning activities, educational best practices, and policies dealing directly or indirectly with educational measurement.
  • Open Positions In accordance with our bylaws, MAG is seeking to fill two open positions for Board members. These members will work closely with the Executive Director and incumbent Board to govern the organization and coordinate our flagship November conference.
  • Board Responsibilities: Governance: Meet monthly (virtually) to conduct Corporation business and plan the annual conference. Innovation: Identify current issues impacting assessment and recruit high-level professionals to present. Collaborations: Establish and maintain collaborations with corporate sponsors and educational partners. Advocacy: Advertise the conference and represent MAG at one CEASOM (Council of Educational Administrative and Supervisory Organizations of Maryland) meeting annually. Attendance: Attend the full November conference to support logistics, introduce speakers, and engage with attendees.
  • Compensation: Board members receive a $1,000 annual stipend, plus complimentary conference registration and three nights of lodging during the November conference.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Candidates should have a history of MAG attendance and currently serve in one of the following capacities: Accountability/Central Office Leadership: Highly familiar with Maryland preK-12 assessments, accountability frameworks, and state program initiatives. Curriculum/Instructional Specialist: Highly familiar with preK-12 Maryland standards, school improvement, data utilization, and/or the implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future.

Please indicate if you wish to be considered for additional conference planning and registration duties for an additional stipend.
